“My Therapy” Podcast: Justin’s Recovery Journey
Feb 16, 2018
Justin Dickie tells it like it is.
A great friend of ours here at CMHA-HRB, Justin first shared his lived experience with depression on, of all days, Bell Let’s Talk Day 2018, a day that he says gave him the courage to open up.
“I have a secret I don’t want to be a secret anymore” was his first statement on Twitter that day. What followed was a series of tweets that outlined his recent diagnosis of depression and experience of a medical leave from work since October 2017. He’s doing the work to recover and get the support he needs, and sharing his own experiences – the hard days and the brighter days, the ups and downs, the supportive and not-so-supportive bits – is part of what is helping him in his recovery journey. Read his tweets here.
Now there’s his new podcast: “My Therapy”. People like Justin who are willing to talk so openly about their own mental health are doing so much to help end stigma and give others hope. We’re sharing it here and will keep you updated on further episodes. Check it out here to hear Justin’s insights, and let us know if you need support for your own recovery.
Good on you, Justin. You’re not alone.
